The Ancient and Noble Military Company of the Lombards is the Grandmother of the Bolognese Institutions, dated 1170. In reality it is by far the oldest military company in the world and from the distant Middle Ages to the present day has never stopped its activity, its meetings, the own service in defense and protection of Bologna. The Compagnia dei Lombardi distinguished itself in the battle of Fossalta between Guelfi and Ghibellini, where King Enzo son was taken prisoner and even today, where there are no weapons to be contested, the Compagnia is for the protection of the values of the city and is lavish in works charity. The most important and well-known names of the city belonged to this most noble and ancient institution. For this project they were among the most enthusiastic and it was the then Treasurer, today Massaro, Dr. Bullini to guide us, patiently, escorting us to the hall that is the seat of this ancient institution and telling the story of this company that seems to come from a book of legends. To elect the command positions of the company, it has been illustrated to us, we rely on luck through a democratic drawing by lot through a series of objects that we have immortalized and that have been handed down for centuries. We will remember the cold and enthusiasm of this place from this place, called by his wife for dinner, who replied with fervor: "They are finishing their mummies, still half an hour!"
